We are in a period of transition
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
After prayerful consideration and in consultation with the leadership of the Evangelical Lutheran Conference and Ministerium (ELCM), I will be taking a pastoral sabbatical beginning immediately. This will be a season set aside for rest, recovery, and discernment — both for my own health and for the future direction of our ministry.
As many of you know, I have been navigating ongoing health concerns for some time. While these have not diminished my love for serving you, they have begun to affect the stamina, energy, and focus I am able to give to the work of Word and Sacrament ministry. Scripture reminds us that shepherds must care faithfully for both the flock and the household entrusted to them (1 Timothy 3:4–5). For me to serve you well for years to come, I must take this time to recover strength and clarity.
While there are also personal matters that have contributed to this decision, I ask for your understanding that not all details can or should be shared publicly. Please know that every step I take in this process is guided by my desire to protect the integrity of our witness and to honor Christ in all things.
In addition to this, the congregation is reviewing a proposal for Confessing Christ Lutheran Church to transition to a more parachurch teaching style ministry called Confessing Christ Lutheran Ministries. This transition would occur by the adoption of new bylaws, and over time during my sabbatical. Once my sabbatical is complete, this ministry would formally launch. Until this time, past sermons will be available on our YouTube channel and here on our website just below this announcement. This proposal will be voted on at our final service on Sunday, August 17th, 2025.
I invite you to join me in prayer during this time:
- For physical healing and renewed energy,
- For wisdom in discerning the future of our congregation,
- For peace, unity, and hope among our members.
Thank you for your understanding, your prayers, and your continued partnership in the Gospel. I will keep you informed as decisions are made.
In Christ’s service,
Rev. Cam Duecker
